On Friday July 20th Evans and Francesca hosted their first fundraiser for Haiti Child and Maternal Health.  Close to 120 people gathered at the Mosquito Creek Bar and Grill in North Vancouver, B.C. for a great night which included a silent auction, a toonie toss, 50/50 ticket sales and a short presentation by Mandy Hengeveld and Christina Mavinic from E&F.

It was a huge success; raising close to $10,000 for Haiti Village Health's three projects:

1. Pediatric Outreach: providing vaccinations, vitamins and well child visits to the 3500 children of the Bas Limbe Region of Northern Haiti

2. The Medika Mamba Project: Medika Mamba is a Haitian produced peanut supplement that is used to treat severe malnutrution. This project is a win-win for both the kids that benefit from increased nutrition and the local farmers that produce the peanuts.

3. The Haitian Physician’s Salary at the Sante Pou Yo clinic. This role is essential in the functioning of the clinic, the Women’s Health Programs (prenatal, post partum and deliveries), the Pediatric Program as well as assuring quality care from Haiti Village Health’s nurse and community health workers through ongoing professional development.

The energy of the night was contagious as friends of E&F joined in the event. Guests from as far as Vancouver Island, Washington State and the Interior made appearances; all excited to help out such a good cause.
